Unlocking the Power of Your Subconscious Beliefs
Have you ever wondered why some things in life seem so hard to come by, while others flow to you effortlessly? I used to feel that way, too, until I realized something so simple, yet so powerful: we manifest what we subconsciously believe we’re worthy of.
I’m sure you’ve heard the term “manifesting” thrown around before—whether it’s manifesting the dream job, the perfect relationship, or that long-awaited vacation. But here’s the thing, no matter how many vision boards we create or affirmations we recite, if deep down inside we don’t believe we deserve these things, they’ll continue to elude us.
For me, this realization hit hard when I started noticing patterns in my life that I couldn’t ignore. No matter how hard I worked toward certain goals, they seemed just out of reach. I thought I was doing everything “right.” But beneath the surface, there were limiting beliefs lurking that whispered things like “You’re not good enough for that,” or “People like you don’t get to have those things.”
The truth is, these negative thoughts come from a place of lack and worry—a scarcity mindset that many of us pick up through childhood experiences, societal conditioning, or even past failures. If you’re subconsciously telling yourself that you aren’t worthy, no amount of positive thinking on the surface will make a difference.
But here’s the good news: we can change that. And it doesn’t have to be a struggle.
Recognize and Rewire Your Subconscious Beliefs
It’s easy to overlook the power of our subconscious mind, but it plays a massive role in shaping our reality. Think about it—our subconscious beliefs are like the software running quietly in the background, dictating how we feel about ourselves and what we think we deserve. You can’t manifest a dream life on faulty programming!
I remember when I first started paying attention to my inner dialogue, it was almost shocking to hear how often I’d mentally tear myself down. “You’re not smart enough for that role,” or “You’ll never make enough money to do that.” These weren’t conscious thoughts I walked around with, but they were there, quietly reinforcing beliefs of unworthiness. What’s helped me the most in my journey is taking time to reflect on my inner narratives and challenge them. If I catch myself thinking, “I’m not good enough,” I replace that with “I am more than capable and worthy of all the good things that life has to offer.” It sounds simple, but this practice of rewiring your thoughts over time changes your beliefs.
One exercise that I implemented in my wellness routine was journaling. I write out the specific goal I was or am working toward, and then I ask myself, “What do I really believe about my ability to achieve this?” I allow myself write whatever comes up, even the negative stuff. Then, I look at those limiting beliefs and actively challenge them. “Is this belief really true? What evidence do I have that disproves it?” Over time, rewriting those beliefs became second nature. And as my beliefs shifted, so did my external reality.
Let Go of Control and Trust
Letting go is one of the hardest yet most liberating parts of manifesting. I used to believe that the only way to get what I wanted was to hold on tight—to push and strive until things worked out. But that’s not how manifestation works. Trying to control every detail of how something will come to you actually blocks the flow of energy. Think of it like trying to swim upstream—it’s exhausting and only gets you so far. But when you relax and trust the current, you start to flow with it, allowing life to bring you what you need with ease. Once I learned to release the “how” and focused more on the “what” and “why” of what I desired, things began to flow with ease.
Trust that the universe has a plan aligned with your desires
Here’s what I did: I started practicing trust in small ways. If something didn’t go the way I planned, instead of panicking, I’d tell myself, “Maybe this isn’t what I need right now. Something better is coming.” I’d remind myself that the universe has my back, and there’s no need to obsess over the timing or the details. Once I let go of that control, it felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders. And ironically, the very things I was trying so hard to manifest started showing up faster once I released my grip.
Letting go is about trusting the process, even when things don’t seem to be working out right away. I know it can feel scary—especially when we’re used to worrying about outcomes. But I promise, once you loosen your grip, the energy starts moving. Everything is always working out in your favor even if it doesn’t seem like it in the moment.
Cultivate an Abundance Mindset
When we’re caught up in scarcity thinking, it’s hard to attract abundance because we’re focused on what’s missing. This is a tough cycle to break, especially if you’re used to worrying about money, relationships, or opportunities. But here’s what I learned—what you focus on grows. So, if you’re constantly thinking about lack, that’s what you’ll continue to attract.Instead of focusing on what’s missing, shift your attention to what’s already abundant in your life. Start small if you need to. Whether it’s having a roof over your head, access to food, or people who care about you—acknowledging what you already have helps shift you out of a place of lack.
To shift this, I started paying close attention to the language I used. Instead of saying, “I can’t afford that,” I’d say, “I always have enough money for everything I want to do in this life.” or “I always have more money coming in that going out.” Instead of thinking, “Why don’t good things happen to me?” I’d say, “I smile with gratitude when I think about the abundance in my life.” This subtle shift in language creates a mindset of abundance rather than lack.
Gratitude journaling has been a game-changer for me. Every morning, I write down a few things I’m grateful for. Doing this consistently has shifted my energy to one of abundance, which naturally attracts more abundance into my life. Another way to practice gratitude is getting into the habit of celebrating even the smallest wins. Whether it was finding a parking spot right when I needed one, or receiving an unexpected compliment, I’d make it a point to acknowledge the abundance already surrounding me. It sounds small, but when you start to see life as abundant, that energy multiplies.
